As we work together to prevent the spread of the virus, we are pausing all community food, wellness, and social programs.

We will continue seeing Alex clients by appointment only. Book an appointment by calling your respective program:

The Youth Health Centre is a safe and supportive place for youth ages 12-24 to come and get health and social care from a trustworthy and caring team of doctors, nurses and support workers.

The Alex Youth Health Centre provides a number of supports and services including:

  • medical care
  • mental health supports
  • STI and pregnancy testing
  • pharmacy services
  • basic needs support
  • LGBTQ2S+ supports
  • parenting programs
  • ID document support

All of our programs are free and available on a drop-in basis. Click on any program on the schedule below to read more about each program. We also offer full-service health care, in a judgment-free and easy to access environment.

Youth Addiction Counselling (with Suzanne)
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Counselling for those who are experiencing substance use difficulties, support in applying to treatment programs and referrals to community agencies.

Queermunity
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

A youth led group for youth aged 12-24 who identify as LGBTQS+ and their allies. This group runs every Monday excluding holidays from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

Adult Addiction Counselling (with Caitlin)
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Counselling for those who are experiencing substance use difficulties, support in applying to treatment programs and referrals to community agencies.

Discovering Choices
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Youth 20 and under have access and can apply to alternative schooling through Discovering Choices. Kevin can also support youth already enrolled with homework, assignments and post-secondary inquiries.

Justice Related Matters
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come and chat with Ailene about any justice related questions you may have, as she can support you through legal issues or the court process.

Tuesday
Calgary Public Library
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Brin brings in reading materials, access to literacy outlets and free books weekly. She can also provide library cards on-site and take care of old fines if necessary.

Men's Team (Bi-Weekly)
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Alex Men’s team meets every second Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Alex Youth Health Centre. The group provides a safe place for men aged 12-24 to connect to a community of other men dedicated to coaching skills in the areas of networking, building friendships and exploring stereotypes and stigmas around masculinity. If you are up for some good food, good conversations and sporting activities then please come by.

Women's Group (Bi-Weekly)
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Alex Women’s team meets every second Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Alex Youth Health Centre. The group provides a safe place for folks identifying as women aged 12-24 to connect to a community of other women dedicated to coaching skills in the areas of networking and building relationships. If you are up for some good food/snacks, good conversations and various activities then please come by.

SORCe (with Simon)

Are you experiencing homelessness? Come and get your SPDAT (housing application) done on site with Simon between 12pm and 3pm

In the Lead
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

In the Lead is a strengths based leadership program in partnership with The Calgary Youth Justice Society for youth that incorporates both mentoring and volunteering components. This is a closed group.

Parenting Plus
11:00 am - 12:30 pm

A parenting class for pregnant and parenting youth and their partners— age 24 and under (and babies up to the age of 1 year). *Sign up required – call Emily at 403.470.1048 This class takes place at the CommuniTree Wellness Centre next door to the Youth Health Centre.

CMHA Discovery College with Nigel

On hiaitus until further notice - Discovery College is a youth adaptation of Recovery College that has been built, imagined and lead by our young people! If you are between the ages of 16 and 24 come talk to Nigel to discover the meaning and purpose in your journey. It’s an opportunity to really delve into who you are, what you want out of life and the possibilities available to you because of all the hidden qualities you possess.

Justice Related Matters with EFry
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Come and chat with Erika from Elizabeth Fry about any justice related questions you may have, as they can support you through legal issues or the court process.

Open Mic Night - Last Friday of the month
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Come out and join us on the last Friday of the month to express yourself through poetry, spoken word, stand up, story slamming or music.
