Give the gift of hope to those most in need this holiday season
This holiday season is going to look different for all of us. Here at The Alex, our community spaces would typically be bustling this time of year with people gathering to share a holiday meal, build community connections, and create lasting memories. In fact, last year our volunteer-driven holiday meal drew over 300 vulnerable Calgarians to our building for a warm turkey dinner and holiday activities.
Unfortunately for the safety of all, this is simply not an option this year. But despite these new challenges, one thing remains the same year after year – Calgarians care about their community.
We’ve had to think outside the box to ensure those who are experiencing homelessness, mental or physical health issues, addiction, and poverty know that they have not been forgotten, and to give you the opportunity to give back.
Come together with your cohort, assemble Holiday Hope Totes and show you care.
How to participate:
1. Assemble a tote!
Join the Holiday Hope movement and prepare a Holiday Hope Tote. Please include a $25 gift card and a few items from our suggested list to fill your totes! You may be eligible for a charitable tax receipt for purchased items, so be sure to keep your receipts. The suggested value of a tote is $40.
Please fill out this short form to help us coordinate pickups and drop-offs, and verify your tax receipt eligibility.
If your group assembles 10 or more totes, our volunteers will deliver empty tote bags for you to fill AND pick up the completed totes! Any questions? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Drop off completed totes at The Alex (Monday – Friday 9 – 3)
